Zograf, Hotel, Trjavna, Balkan Mountains

A walk to Central Bulgaria will bring you close to culture and wonderful landscapes. Climb the steep road to Shipka Pass and then descend through dense forests to the historical towns of Gabrovo and Veliko Tarnovo, the old capital of Bulgarian tsars. Just a half-hour ride from these places, you will find the smaller town of Trjavna which is a perl of Bulgarian Revival Architecture - with plenty of remarkable old buildings, a cute central square which reminds former centuries, and some superb mehana (=stylish restaurants; word comes from turkish meyhane) which serve incredible local meals.
Hotel Zograf is located at the beginning of the old street, very close to the Clock Tower Square and the Arch Bridge. The hotel is part of the old streer architectural ensemble. The hotel complex was built in 2001 and is a combination of the distinctive architecture from the Revival period with modern interior. People are friendly and welcoming here, most of the rooms have a nice view on the narrow street or the garden and river in the background.
